  • Collective Worship

Silchester Church of England Primary School is proud to be a Voluntary Controlled Church of England School, rooted in a long history that began in 1845. Our Christian foundation shapes our ethos, our relationships and the education we provide. We aim to offer every child an excellent education within a caring, values‑driven community, inspired by Christian belief and practice. We encourage all children to explore the meaning and importance of faith, and we promote Christian values through the experiences we offer every day.

We belong to the Diocese of Winchester and work closely with the Diocesan Education Team to maintain and strengthen our Christian distinctiveness. As part of the Benefice of Tadley with Pamber Heath and Silchester, we are supported by our Foundation Governors, who visit regularly and play an important role in nurturing our Christian vision.

We are fortunate to have a strong and vibrant relationship with Reverend Karen West, who leads collective worship each Tuesday alongside our pupil Worship Ambassadors. Members of the local church community also join us to deliver ‘Open the Book’ worship, bringing Bible stories to life in creative and engaging ways. In addition, our children take part in a variety of worship styles, including singing worship, class worship and celebration assemblies.

Collective worship is a valued and integral part of daily school life. It is inclusive, reflective and rooted in Christian themes that encourage children to think deeply about themselves, others and the wider world. Our planned themes help children to experience awe and wonder, to reflect on their own beliefs and experiences, and to grow in understanding of who they are and who they aspire to be.
